He possesses a grand piano himself and keeps up a choir at his home, Kanye. He frequently takes his choir by lorry and car around the country to give concerts elsewhere. His style of composition reflects the insititutional type of song which has been popular among students for several years employing the usual common chords. Interest in the folk music of the country having been discouraged by their teachers as socially inferior, this style of singing was intended to take its place among the 'educated'. Concert song.

The sexes were divided dancing at right angles to each other and the girls kept up a shrill high descant. The men danced in a circle as tightly packed sardines. The main feature of the boys' costume were the immense number of strands of beads wound about the hips to a depth of 18 or more. The edges of the blankets were also beaded. The girls also wore three swathings of beads around the hips. 3 Gubura dances for young men.

This village had been much affected by the activities of the local political body known as the African National Congress (Kongolos), members of which had tried to persuade the Tonga that the waters of the Kariba Dam would not rise, and collected fees from the villagers.
